Call of the Sea’s developer, Out of the Blue Games, decided to come up with a new game; They announced American Arcadia in a short trailer:
There aren’t many details in the video; We just see that we’re on a television show and we hear the director give some instructions to the team. That’s exactly the theme of the game. It is possible to describe American Arcadia as a dystopia set in the world of television in the 1970s. In Arcadia, all the inhabitants of the city move on without realizing that their lives are monitored and broadcast 24 hours a day (did you say Truman Show?). But it’s not limited to that, but there’s a very high price to pay for the ratings drop on this most-watched broadcast on the planet: Death. So it’s up to us to uncover the secret of this city and escape Arcadia.
One thing that might be interesting about the game is that it’s not the first time we’ve seen it Combining a 2.5-dimensional platform-action game with a puzzle-adventure game from a first-person camera. Another note that may attract attention is the names included in the voiceovers; There’s a voice cast that includes Yuri Lowenthal (Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Call of the Sea), Kriza Bajos (Cyberpunk 2077, League of Legends) and Cissy Jones (Firewatch, Life is Strange, Call of the Sea).
The release date of the game developed for PCs and consoles is not yet known. One of the games that will be featured in Tribeca will be American Arcadia, where more details will be shared.
