At Activision Blizzard’s investor meeting, the big news came one after the other. If you recall, with the dismissal of J. Allen Brack in August, Blizzard was replaced by Jen Oneal and Mike Ybarra. The pair’s title was announced as “co-leader,” indicating that bobby kotick was actually the one who had a say in Activision Blizzard’s management ranks.
At the investor meeting, it was announced that Jen Oneal had decided to step down. On the one hand, blizzard promises such as gender equality, an end to discrimination, etc., we can say that the studio management will be in the hands of one man again, so 🙂 Now Mike Ybarra, blizzard’s only leader, has come to his people. Oneal will remain with Activision Blizzard until the end of the year and will leave the company altogest at the end of the year.
“I’m not doing this on the grounds that I’m desperate for Blizzard, it’s actually the opposite of atam – I can see everyone here working with their heart out for lasting and meaningful change. This energy has inspired me to take steps to explore what more I can do to intersect games and diversity, and I hope I can make an impact that could benefit Blizzard and other studios as well. I’m not sure yet how fit this will be, but I’m excited to be embarking on a new journey to find it,” says Oneal.
With Oneal’s departure, Activision Blizzard will donate $1 million to the nonprofit Woman in Games International.
