On November 28, Blizzard Entertainment will release World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. Excitement and curiosity are growing. The new adventure takes place on the Dragon Isles, a new continent with five regions. The islands have been around in the World of Warcraft lexicon for years, but this will be the first time players will explore the location.
Blizzard also announced a revamp of some key features, along with the introduction of a new playable race and class. As the Dragon Islands wake up and players prepare to enter a new era of adventure, Blizzard has released a guide to exploring what’s in the game’s new expansion pack.
Here are five things you need to know about World of Warcraft: Dragonflight:
What will Dragonflight’s gameplay be centered on?
The Dragon Islands were once the heart of the dragon kingdom, until the dragons were forced to leave their former homeland behind after the Great Split, which was the result of the Legion’s attacks on Azeroth and saw much of the magic of the islands.
Now the Islands are awakening again, once again swelling with elemental magic, and the dragons are ready to take back their heritage and return to their rightful place as guardians of Azeroth. However, the islands have undoubtedly changed over the past 10,000 years, with new challenges and the re-emergence of old enemies that dragons must face and overcome in order to truly reclaim their ancestral home. Players will help dragons as they adventure across the Dragon Islands, explore their ancient lands and uncover long-forgotten secrets, as well as encounter other mortal races such as the Tuskarr, who return to Dragonflight.
Where does Dragonflight take place?
The expansion takes place on the Dragon Isles, an unexplored continent. Hidden for more than 10,000 years, this is a place that few have heard of and even fewer have gone, meaning there’s a lot to discover for players, old and new.
Dragon Islands is the largest continent ever built for the World of Warcraft expansion, designed specifically for Dragonriding, a new form of aerial movement in the game. Players will take to the skies in new regions and earn a customizable dragon mount in each of the four main leveling zones.
The islands consist of five zones — four of which are leveling zones, while Forbidden Access is the starting zone for the Dracthyr Evoker class.
Players can only progress between regions in order in their first game:
– The Forbidden Reach (Dractyr Evoker class only)
– Awakening Shores
– Ohn’ahran Plains
– Azure Spread
– Taldraszular
What new characters will be included in the expansion?
The expansion will add a new dragon race called Dracthyr, World of Warcraft’s first playable race and class combination. Players can switch between a humanoid skin form and a draconic form to fight enemies and overcome obstacles, which can be customized while creating a character.
Dracthyr will be given his own unique playable class: Evoker. Players will have to choose their loyalty as Horde or Alliance. Evokers possess two basic specialties: destruction and protection, meaning they can fight fiery breath attacks from the skies and use magical abilities for healing to support their allies.
Players will be introduced to Dracthyr’s story in a brand new startup experience and will be able to apply new abilities before exploring Dragon Isles. Dracathyr can be used by players from level 58.
What are some of the new features?
Dragonflight will offer a more complex skill system that allows players to create new combinations of spells and abilities. The main “class tree” will have useful skills for your class, while the “specialization” trees will increase offensive or healing powers and focus on current role performance and adapt to the specialization you are in.
Under the new skill tree system, players will be able to create spell and skill combinations that weren’t possible before.
The user interface will also receive its first major refresh in 18 years, improving the design to make it more attractive, accessible and adjustable. Players can expect to see a messy view with a larger minimap and health bar for convenience. The HUD has also been improved, and players will now be able to move selected items that can be saved, edited, copied, and named on the screen.
So what are the new Dragonflight professions?
In Dragonflight, the professions will undergo a major overhaul, with three main elements:
– Crafting orders – allows players to ask other players to do something for themselves, even if they don’t have the right profession or expertise for them
– Specialized production – produce higher quality products by focusing on a specific area of a selected area
– Quality – the quality of prepared items has also been updated, meaning that the better the item, the more useful it will be
