With the agreement signed between Fenerbahçe Sports Club and 1907 Fenerbahçe Association, we started to operate in the field of esports in November 2016.
In the League of Legends Championship League, which we have been included in with the winter season of 2017, we have competed for a total of 12 seasons, 6 of which are winter and 6 of which are summer. Since the date we have been involved, we have achieved significant successes. In 2017, 2019 and 2020, we won the championship 3 times and the second place 2 times. In 2017, we won an international championship at Rift Rivals in Russia. Again in 2017, as one of the best 16 teams in the world in the ‘Worlds 2017’ League of Legends World Championship held in China, we managed to be the last Turkish team to qualify for the groups.
With the start of the Academy League in 2019, we established the Fenerbahçe Esports League of Legends Academy Team, played in the final 3 times and experienced the pride of 2 championships.
In addition to these achievements, we have also allowed our players to experience important periods in their careers. In 12 seasons, a total of 67 esportsmen, 19 of whom were foreign and 48 of whom were domestic, wore Fenerbahçe jerseys in League of Legends alone, while many of these players, who started their esports career with Fenerbahçe jersey for the first time, have now created a future for themselves in different leagues of Europe and the world.
Our esports story, which started with League of Legends, expanded with our inclusion in new games every year. In 2022, our teams and players, who competed in a total of 7 games, have achieved numerous championships and international successes. Fenerbahçe Esports branch, consisting of a total of 90 people with players, coaches and other teammates, has reached the position of Turkey’s locomotive esports team.
However, on the League of Legends side, the status change of the Turkish Championship League came to the agenda and it was announced that the champions of the Turkish Championship League would not be able to participate in the MSI and Worlds World Championships. For this reason, we would like to inform you that we have decided to withdraw from the League of Legends Championship League, where we have been struggling since 2017 and continue to invest uninterruptedly, as of the 2023 Winter Season. Because; As Fenerbahçe Espor, we believe that being on a platform where we will not have the opportunity to compete with the best in the world cannot and does not suit our team, our fans and the great Fenerbahçe community.
We want you to know that our struggle will continue in all games except League of Legends. We want to underline that our goal in all these lanes is the championship and success in the international arena.
We would like to thank all our players, coaches, analysts and management staff who have contributed to the League of Legends side. We wish Riot Games and the League of Legends Championship League every success.”
