Video game auctions at Heritage Auctions have been a hot topic for the past week. First, a rare version of The Legend of Zelda found a buyer for $870,000. A Super Mario 64 with a score of 9.8 broke an all-time record by finding a buyer for exactly $1.56 million before we even had a chance to think “look at the money.”
Super Mario 64 was also auctioned off, and another significant sale was made, in fact, an unopened copy of Skyrim was purchased for $600. Let’s go from the 80s to the 90s, the way games have reached the present day in these conditions is a big event, both the lack of production and the time that passes are huge factors. But it’s amazing how much Skyrim, which hasn’t even been 10 years old, can suddenly be sold at these prices, or rather someone valued this game so much.
This copy of Skyrim, which sold for $600; scored 9.2 points on Wata. I mean, his conditioning is pretty good, but it’s not surprising for a recent game.
If you ever see skyrim unopened between old games in a tech store you’re going to, throw it in the basket, and then you never know how much you’re going to sell it for:)
