TheGamer has uncovered an interesting statistic by looking at the frequency with which FIFA 22’s Passion achievement is earned on Xbox, PlayStation and Steam. This achievement includes the task of “play an international women’s soccer match”, which is achieved by 3.3% of players on Xbox, 4.2% on PlayStation, and only 3.9% on Steam.
This means that the number of players playing women’s football in FIFA 22 is less than 4%. Since there is no performance system in Nintendo Switch, this platform is not taken into account, but I don’t think things are different there either.
This achievement takes into account the women’s matches played in Kick Off mode. In Pro Clubs and Volta, two other game modes where you can play with women, these modes are not taken into account because the teams are often mixed.
In FIFA 22, Alex Scott also serves as the female announcer in Career mode, but not in other modes like Ultimate Team.
At the moment, only women’s football is represented in FIFA at the national team level, not women’s football at club level. But if interest in women’s football remains so low, it won’t surprise anyone that Electronic Arts won’t include the feature in future games.
