The Astronauts team has postponed the Early Access version of the dark fantasy first-person shooter Witchfire from its previously scheduled 2022 release year to early 2023. The reason for the postponement was cited: The game’s combat system will be changed from arena style to open-world combat. Witchfire was first announced at The Game Awards 2017.
Witchfire will be a roguelite shooter set in a dark world and will come up with fast action. According to the report, Witchfire will use the Unreal Engine 4 game engine.
The Astronauts announced that the game will be released as early access, as well as exploring RTX/DLSS technologies. On the other hand, the full version of the game is expected to take up to 5 years. In addition, it is stated that it will not be a story-oriented game.
The development team will share more information about Witchfire in late October.
