Last month, according to Press Start (news source), a lighter and revamped version of the PlayStation 5 console was reportedly released in Australia. The PS5’s new CFI-1200 series model is said to be lighter than the 2021 model. The disc version of the first released PS5 weighs 4.5 kg, the 2021 model weighs 4.2 kg and the new 2022 model weighs 3.9 kg. The first Digital Edition version of the PS5 weighs 3.9 kg, the 2021 model weighs 3.6 kg, and the new 2022 model weighs 3.4 kg.
YouTuber Austin Evans bought the CFI-1200 model and opened the inside of the PS5 console to explore the many changes made to its interior design.
The new PS5 model is noticeably smaller than the previous models. This new model PS5 console has a different motherboard and SSD case with advanced protection. The cooler of the console has also been reduced even smaller than the CFI-1100 model. However, the heatsink is connected to a heat pipe that extends to the other side of the console.
Finally, Evans claims that the CFI-1200 uses less power than other models.
