ASUS unveiled two new premium laptops designed for gamers who embrace boundless courage in gaming, Strix Scar 17 Special Edition and Flow X16, at the “Gamers For Those Who Dare: Boundless” event.
Expanding its roster of the ROG (Republic of Gamers) lineup of the world’s most powerful and versatile gaming laptops, ASUS announced the 2022 models of the Strix Scar and Flow series, powered by the latest AMD and Intel processors, RTX GPUs, at the global launch event.
ROG Flow’s most powerful: X16
ROG Flow X16 is the most powerful ROG Flow device to date, and its convertible design appeals to those who want high gaming performance. The most important feature that makes the X16 different from other gaming laptops is; Flexibility. The device can turn into a touch tablet with a 360-degree hinge.
Built on a 16-inch screen, the product’s screen refresh rate is 165 Hz. The QHD display with a response time of 3 ms is based on mini-LED technology. In this way, the device with a high contrast ratio can reach 1,100 nits of brightness and cover 100 percent of DCI-P3, demonstrating high color accuracy.
ROG Flow X16, which received VESA’s DisplayHDR 1000 certification, is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS processor, Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti graphics card, 64GB of 4,800MHz DDR5 RAM and 2TB of PCIe SSD storage. The device, which has a modern design with the effect of its thin frames, has a 1080P camera with Windows Hello support. The gaming laptop, which can be used in tablet and tent form, also has pen support, which increases the area of non-game use. In addition, the touch screen was designed with Corilla Glass developed by Corning to be more scratch-resistant.
The X16 uses Frost Force technology, which directs the air to keep the computer cool. The device also has a third fan that removes heat from the GPU while keeping the noise low.
The Pulsar Cooler, made of thin copper cooling fins that expel heat without restricting airflow, is another feature of the device. The Flow X16 weighs just 2.1kg.
Cooler, higher performance: ROG Strix SCAR 17 Special Edition
ROG Strix SCAR 17 SE features the latest hardware and cutting-edge cooling solutions to support class-leading gaming experiences, with even more powerful internal components and advanced features than ROG Strix’s predecessor. The device is enhanced with a special vapor chamber paired with ROG’s exclusive Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal, which is applied to both the CPU and GPU.
Flow X16 is powered by an ultra-powerful Intel Core i9-12950HX CPU with 16 cores and 24 threads. The ultra-powerful CPU also has 16GB GDDR6 VRAM and a maximum TGP of 175W.
What makes the device special is that it has a cover with a text-based design thanks to the special invisible ink developed by ASUS. Text that is not visible in normal lighting shines with green-blue colors under LED or UV light.
The device’s 330W power adapter has also been redesigned to be 34 percent smaller and 27 percent lighter. With 90Whr battery power, the X16 has a Thunderbolt 4 port, an HDMI 2.1 port, a 2.5Gb Ethernet port, two USB-A ports, and a 3.5mm combined audio jack. Four speakers with Dolby Atmos and a backlit keyboard are other features that make the device exclusive.
