Sony Interactive Entertainment’s vice president Masayasu Ito announced on October 1 that he will resign and that Lin Tao will be appointed to the current position. Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Japan – Asia co-development president Kiichiro Urata will also be appointed as company director.
Ito oversaw the hardware engineering and operations for Sony Interactive Entertainment. Over the years, he played a key role in the planning of various PlayStation hardware, including the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR. Ito has worked at Sony Interactive Entertainment since April 2008 and before that at Sony Corporation for nearly 11 years.
According to Bloomberg, Ito’s resignation is due to the coming of retirement age. This reason is currently confirmed by a representative.
