“Any news from Bloodlines 2 or its developer?” asked Paradox CFO Alexander Bricca during the Q&A portion of Paradox Interactive’s third quarter meeting.
“The new developer is doing a pretty good job and we’re very happy with the way the project is going at the moment, but we’re a long way from talking about release dates. We chose to provide the studio with a situation where fans who were trying to reach out to them would not have to respond, but could focus entirely on game development. That’s why we haven’t released the name of the studio so far, and we’re going to keep it that way for a while.”
All we know about the new studio is that it is a “respected and talented” developer and has developed a large number of games so far. Paradox’s Harebrained Schemes, which it incorporated in 2018, actually fits the example given, because it includes games such as BattleTech and Shadowrun: Daggerfall, as well as kevin maloney, who is the content designer for Hardsuit; and Bloodlines 2.
It’s understandable that Paradox didn’t reveal his name to keep the studio from being disturbed, because it’s not easy to take responsibility for the sequel to a cult game with a unique fan base like Bloodlines.
