Moonbreaker, which attracted attention with its universe created by Brendon Sanderson, one of the world-famous writers, entered the early access process and was presented to the taste of the players. The first major update of the game, which has not yet been released for a month, has been released. The details given on the subject are as follows;
Moonbreaker’s first major content update released
This content update includes major tweaks to the game’s Early Access business model, introduces several gameplay changes to make it more compatible with traditional miniatures and tabletop games, and releases the second part of the “Moonbreaker: Tales From The Reaches” concert.
Since its launch to Early Access on Steam last month, both KRAFTON and Unknown Worlds have been very committed to evaluating players’ feedback, with this assessment confirmed by the removal of their Cargo Run Contracts a week after release. Today’s content update reinforces the commitment to significant community-driven gameplay changes outlined below. A detailed description of these changes can be found HERE.
In a nutshell, this content update removes all in-game monetization of Moonbreaker. Pulsars (the game’s fixed currency) have been removed and in-game items can no longer be purchased or exchanged during Early Access. As a result, the in-game store has been disabled and all Pulsar purchases will be automatically returned via Steam. Founder’s Pack Pulsars have now been replaced by a new Zax and Slopper Skin. Players who already own the Founder’s Pack will receive this cosmetic directly.
In addition, all Units (Captains and Crew) are now automatically unlocked with the main game. This means that the Booster Boxes have been removed and all new Units that will be added to Moonbreaker with future Early Access content updates (in general frequency) will be automatically unlocked for all players at no additional cost.
Sparks are being replaced by Blanks and Merits as the main in-game currency. Players can upgrade the rarity of a Unit using Sparks. A reminder; The rarity of a Unit will continue to be just a cosmetic escalation without affecting gameplay.
Finally, the Season Tracking progress is even faster and includes many new cosmetic rewards.
KEY GAMEPLAY CHANGES
Based on strong community feedback, the content update also introduces several key gameplay changes that demonstrate Moonbreaker’s miniature and tabletop roots further adopting while increasing player management. First of all, players will now start the game with all their Crews available at the beginning of each match, and the concepts of “reinforcement” and “drawing” will be removed throughout the game. With this adjustment, the squad size was reduced from 10 to 8 (not including the Captain) and a slight reduction was made.
Speaking of captains, Astra has been overhauled to offer players a more comprehensive range of counterplay options. Ship Aids have also been reworked to give players more ways to deal with them:
- Orbital Strike: At the start of a player’s NEXT round, they deal 3 damage to all units in the field; the waiting time was reduced from 4 rounds to 3 rounds.
- Cinder Infusion: New Keyword, Infused. Win +1 Cinder in each round; Infused the Crew to your target ally for 3 rounds.
- Plink: When activated, players can choose a Unit whose health changes, during which time they can restore health (if they are allies) or deal damage (if they are enemies).
- Stowaway: When using this Ship Assist, a player’s “lowest cost” yet-to-be-placed Crew will be replaced with a Crew with +1 more Cinder amount to place.
- Corrosive Particles: The radius of this aid will be reduced from 5 to 2, with a reduction of 83%.
NEW EPISODE OF “MOONBREAKER: TALES FROM THE REACHES”
The new content update also introduces the second episode of the “Moobreaker: Tales From The Reaches” concert series. This latest episode, “Zax’s Story”, is available in-game or on digital podcast platforms including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, iHeart Media, Amazon Podcasts, and Stitcher.
These tunes transport listeners to various locations along Reaches—a tiny solar system with moons held in orbit by a scarce resource called Cinder—as they learn more about the game’s core characters and world. Moonbreaker’s concerts will touch on many different points as they tell an intriguing long story that will unfold for many years to come. “Zax’s Story” is the second of three episodes to air during the opening season of Moonbreaker, with additional episodes scheduled for each subsequent season.
