On this auspicious day when the Great Offensive ended with our victory, we commemorate Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and all our saintly martyrs with mercy and gratitude. This day, which we live as the fruit of the gifted Turkish commanders, the unshakable will of our nation and the love of country, is our holiday.
Today, as every day, we are proud of our nation’s superior determination and love of country, and we celebrate August 30th Victory Day with all our sincere wishes.
Happy 30 August Victory Day!
The offensive, which started in Zafertepe Çalköy, advanced with the order of Mustafa Kemal Pasha. At first, the Commander-in-Chief, the heroic Turkish soldier after him, surrounded the Greek troops on both sides in the Allıören, Kızıltaş Creek and Keçiler positions and completely destroyed them. When that day finally came, the whole Turkish nation would celebrate it as a holiday for many years. Gazi Mustafa Kemal’s iconic order “Armies, your first target is the Mediterranean, forward!” came immediately after this victory.
On 1 September, the Commander-in-Chief issued the following proclamation, to be read to all officers and men serving on the Western Front:
I demand that all my friends proceed, taking into account that they will be given to other battles in Anatolia, and continue the competition with all their strength, using the resources of everyone’s intellect and patriotism. Armies, your first target is the Mediterranean, forward!”
Today, we commemorate all of these people, to whom we owe all our freedom, with love, respect and gratitude. May their souls be blessed.
