In 2019, David Gaider, the lead author of Dragon Age, founded his new studio, Summerfall Studios; and announced his first project, the mythological musical adventure play Chorus. A lot has changed in the intervening three years, including the name of the game.
Gaider’s play is called Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical.
Both Gaider and summerfall co-founder Liam Esler have served in key NSOs such as Baldur;s Gate, Icewind Dale, Pillars of Eternity in the past. Of course, it is not surprising that this new game has been named RPG.
“There were several reasons why we wanted to change the name. But as our main motivation grew and went beyond our initial thoughts, we realized that we needed a fresh name that better matched the tone and theme of the game. We realized that what we were doing was less of an adventure game and more role-playing games – not an RSO that was used in the mainstream, but a game based on both dialogue and role-playing choices as songs. We decided that the name Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical better reflects the game we made.”
Stray Gods stars composer Austin Wintory, renowned voice actors Troy Baker and Laura Bailey.
