Fawzi Mesmar, DICE’s design leader in charge of the Battlefield and Star Wars: Battlefront series, decided to leave DICE following the release of Battlefield 2042. News of the breakup was announced in an email to employees this week.
Mesmar battlefield 2042, Star Wars Battlefront II, Battlefield V, which announced plans to leave for some time, led design teams of more than 80 creative directors, game designers and other employees.
“It was a great pleasure to serve the best design teams in the galaxy. The incredible design work you have uncovered continues to inspire me every day. Thank you for believing in me, I hope I didn’t disappoint,” Mesmar said.
Mesmar received an offer from another firm that he couldn’t refuse, and the firm agreed to wait until Battlefield 2042 came out. Mesmar’s last day at DICE is tomorrow, November 26th. His new studio is in Stockholm, but he hasn’t announced which company he’s with yet.
