We just recently shared with you what happened to a cute or cute indie game called Unpacking. The production, which soon gained notoriety, faced a clone version on mobile platforms. Developer Witch Beam Games, which issued a warning for this mobile clone that topped sales, received an “apology” from the cloned game’s distributor.
Egor Vaihanski, CEO of kotaku, said the producer had “not done enough research” for his play. Vaihanski said the mobile game had an extraordinary resemblance to Unpacking, saying they had made a mistake and apologized to the producer.
The mobile clone, which soon topped the Googla Play Store and App Store, is said to be pursuing an aggressive advertising strategy. In fact, Witch Beam Games said in a statement that there were many Unpacking clones, but the first derivative to play at the top was “Unpacking Master”.
