“AS IMM, WE WANT TO ADAPT ISTANBUL TO RAPID TRANSFORMATION”
Stating that technology exists in every aspect of life, İmamoğlu said, “As the Metropolitan Municipality, we, on behalf of Istanbul, are in an effort to adapt to this rapid transformation as quickly as possible. We want to build the world of the future, so to speak. We are thinking about 2050. In fact, my friends and I talk about, ‘We need to think about 2100.’ Stating that 2050 is the near time for the age group participating in the competition, İmamoğlu said, “We will be in 2050 at the energetic times of their lives. In this respect, we are putting forth an intense effort to prepare the future, how to add every mind, every mind, every technology, every information that is in this age to our lives in the most effective way and in the fastest way.” Reminding that successful works have recently emerged in the world in game development, İmamoğlu emphasized that OGEM, which they have recently established, is a beginning in this sense. “Our valuable young people are cooperating and working with us here,” İmamoğlu said, “And we want that; In the digital sector, let Istanbul be a center and locomotive of the world in many areas. At this point, perhaps the best ones in game development will come out in Istanbul and will continue to do so. We support them, provide them with opportunities and contribute to them being more efficient with these working areas. In every field where you will use technology usefully, we are determined to support you, especially the children and young people of this city.”

“THIS CITY SHOULD MARK THE 21ST CENTURY”“With this competition, I see that you have the opportunity to model our Istanbul with the game,” Imamoglu said.
“This city should leave its mark on the 21st century with millions of people who are successful in this field. And the ability to do that is for our children, the children and young people of this city. We want to take the success steps of this together and develop it. We want to prepare the future together with you. Istanbul is a world-class city, but we also want it to be a model city worldwide. We want it to be an exemplary local government. For this reason, it is precisely about contributing to the development period related to technology, not only OGEM, but also the technology centers that we will open in Zemin Istanbul, Data Laboratory and other districts, the areas that will provide a working environment for young people, offices. In this sense, they will both contribute to their own development and give them the opportunity to carry the digital transformation of Istanbul to the highest level. On this occasion, I want creatively minded young people from all over Turkey and even the world to make Istanbul a center for themselves and to come here by saying, “Let me go to Istanbul, the opportunities there will give me better opportunities for my development.” I hope that there will be days when many important technology companies of the world will make Istanbul their center. Because we have youth, we have many children, and we have the highest hopes for the future.”
ÖZBİLGİN: “THE INTEREST WAS MORE INTENSE THAN WE EXPECTED”
Stating that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk raised the hopes of the people of the country in this sense, İmamoğlu said, “I congratulate and celebrate the beautiful holiday of everyone, those of us who were children in the past and everyone who is a child today. I hope that; In the second century, I wish to spend the Republic together with the new generation that has planted its flag in the highest places in technology.” In his speech, Microsoft Turkey President Levent Özbilgin said:
“Our recently announced competition has received more interest than we expected; 7 thousand of our children applied. Of course, among these children there were children who knew Microsoft’s Minecraft program because they were included in the school curriculum, and there were children who knew little. Our education team gave Minecraft training in the evening for 6 days to all children who wished without discrimination. Today, it is a truly unique feeling to share the excitement of our children, the creators of the 3 projects that have reached the finals and qualified to receive awards, and to see the sparkle in their eyes… Just seeing such intense participation in this competition is enough reason for us to continue our investments in the field of education. However, we believe that there are many more hidden gems in these lands and we see bringing these gems together with technology as one of our social responsibilities.”
AWARDS FROM IMAMOGLU
After the speeches, the 4 winning teams received their awards from İmamoğlu and Özbilgin. The winners of the competition were Poyraz Eroğlu and Recep Han Işık with the modeling of “Blue Mosque”; With the modeling of “Tiled Kiosk”, Asya Eroğlu, Deniz Ceviz; Ahmet Furkan Demirci, Erdinç Efe Duransel, İsmail Öztürk with the modeling of “Dolmabahçe Palace” and Nilda TKımaz and Defne Acer with the modeling of “Pera Palas”.
