G-LAB Kult Nitrogen Core review

Sebastian Kowalcyzk 02 Sep 2022 News Leave a comment 80 Views

When it comes to player mice, it’s fair to say that players are now divided in two. It is possible to feel this distinction in this first G-LAB product that we reviewed this month, because just as Kult Beryllium appeals to gamers who love ultralight mice, the Kult Nitrogen Core is just as old skool, G502 style, a model that appeals to gamers who love heavy and sedentary mice.

If we say G502 style, we need to mention that the “using popular designs” school, which is very popular among gamer mice these days, does not apply to Nitrogen Core. Yes, it is a seated mouse, yes it has many buttons and can be personalized as you wish, but Nitrogen Core is a product that has gone its own way in terms of design, and it is good that it has done so.

How is the design?
We said design, let’s continue. The box design and content are not very ambitious, but the mouse has some interesting capabilities for the price level it is in. When you saw the photos, you probably thought it was a big mouse, and you’re right. The Nitrogen Core, which is 123 * 76 * 44mm in size, has dimensions that we can call “above the middle”. The three-zone RGB lighting looks quite pleasing to the eye and has also won our appreciation for the material quality. The rubber coatings on the sides have a very good grip feel, and the rat’s rough anthracite-colored surface also leaves a quality feel. So there is no problem with ergonomics in general. The mouse sits in your hand and is also quite comfortable for any kind of grip.

The outstanding feature of Nitrogen Core in terms of sales is that it comes with a full 11 buttons . These buttons, in my opinion, are both the strongest and the weakest aspects of the mouse. Why? Let me explain.

First of all, it is very enjoyable to have a Sniper button assigned to a gamer mouse. When you hold down this button and move the mouse – whatever your DPI setting – the sensitivity drops to 400dpi, making it easier for you to snipe without limiting your mobility. The M5 button, which is defined as a double shot mode as long as the games support it, is also a good idea in our opinion, and the problem is that this button is quite hard and this makes it difficult to use.

Let’s come to the biggest problem: Unfortunately, almost all of the function keys make noise when you shake the mouse and are noticeably loose. Especially in the M6-M7, which are the main function keys of the mouse, this problem is at the intergalactic level. Although the buttons are very sensitive in practice, they are quite loose so they cannot avoid giving some sponge feeling.

How is the performance?
On the technical side, the sensor used in the mouse is the PixArt PMW 3325, which is one of the entry-level favorites of gamers and in my opinion is the minimum sensor that a gaming mouse should have. With 20G acceleration and 100 IPS speed, the performance values of this mouse indicate the minimum level that competitive gamers need. If we mention that the software supports sensitivity up to 10000dpi and 1000Hz polling rate , we have to say that the performance of the mouse is quite enough for an entry-level mouse.

And what we said, the Nitrogen Core is not a very light mouse. In addition to the mouse weighing 105 grams , 3 pieces come with a weight of 5 grams each. When you use them in the slot at the bottom of the mouse, the Nitrogen Core turns into a 120-gram seated mouse. Although the sensor performance is sufficient for competitive games, we can say that the Nitrogen Core departs from the performance class at this point, so it may be off the radar of some players. The switches used have a life of 30 million clicks, but since we do not have spare skatez, we could not open the mouse and look at it in detail. I think they are ZF.

Nitrogen Core’s skates are not PTFEs. Neither is this the feeling it gives, nor does the company have such a claim. As a matter of fact, considering that it is a heavy mouse, we can think that most players do not expect a wonderful gliding experience from UPE skatez. Still, I wouldn’t say the feeling of skates is too bad, there’s not a lot of “hanging out” feeling. The problem is in the braided cable 1.8m long. This cable is very thin, as if it was in the cold of Erzurum all night, and it can cause you to get stuck in everything you can think of and interrupt your gaming pleasure. Frankly, I think this cable is the first thing G-LAB needs to replace.

Meanwhile, Nitrogen Core also has software support . Yes, you know this third-party software, you have seen it in many products from Ajaz to different brands, but obviously it does its job well, it is possible to easily access everything from lighting effects to DPI settings. I wasn’t bothered. There are also macro settings , but be careful not to be banned from games. The number of games that are obsessed with this issue has started to increase, you know.

Final Decision
As a result, Nitrogen Core, which is thrown for 35 euros abroad, is a customizable mouse that can do every job at the same time and can be accessed around 550 TL including customs duty and cargo through Amazon in our country. Although hardware prices have increased and expensiveness is now a part of life, this figure is not cheap. Still, it will be a quality alternative for gamers who can’t afford the G502.
