The problem of coming across the same map in a row while playing Valorant was one of the problems that players had been complaining about for a long time and waiting for a solution. Don’t think I’m talking about a few days when I say “a long time”, it was literally a problem that had been going on for months.
Riot said it had finally solved the problem, but that it was more difficult than anticipated.
Brian Chang of Valorant Competitive Team said, “We are aware of the disappointment you experience when you see the same map back-to-back. “In one of our most recent polls, more than a third of Valorant players said it was extremely frustrating.”
Chang said that this problem in Valorant has persisted over the years. When the game came out in 2020, the map selection was completely random, and players would fall into one of four maps. Although Riot changed the randomization system to ;p seudo-random” when it added more maps to the game, the randomization of the maps was not at the level expected. According to the survey, 67% of their players say they “always” or “often” play the same maps.
Riot has found the solution to all of this by removing the randomization system, instead a system that focuses on making the right choice to minimize the series. Chang says this is the biggest innovation in this regard so far.
“The percentage of players who have seen the same map three times in a row has dropped to 0.06. Only 8 out of a few million players have seen the same map four times in a row, two of them are already trying to escape certain maps. No player has ever seen the same map five times in a row. This also has zero impact on queue times or match balance,” Chang says.
Thus, we can say that one more problem of Valorant was solved:)
