As you know, Sony has been buying studios for a while to strengthen the Playstation brand . Sony, which has incorporated many companies it has worked with for a long time, continues to strengthen its hand with companies that turn to different sides. According to the statement made on the Playstation Blog page, the company has purchased the Savage Game studio this time. After the acquisition of the company working on mobile games, of course, the possibility that Sony may turn to the mobile side comes to mind. The statement made by Herman Hulst is as follows;
Playstation acquires Savage Game studio
“Today, we announced that we have reached a definitive agreement to acquire Savage Game Studios, an extremely talented creative team with many years of experience that makes some of the most popular mobile games appreciated by gamers around the world. They were founded a few years ago with the aim of fearlessly exploring bold new ideas. We share a constant drive to expand our audience and bring PlayStation to more people than ever before and bring them to PlayStation Studios, as well as a tireless passion for innovation.”
Michail Katkoff, CEO and Co-Founder of Savage Game Studios, said, “Founded in 2020 and led by me and our co-founders Nadjim Adjir and Michael McManus, Savage Game Studios was born out of our many years of mobile game development experience spanning a number of successful global IPs. Our guiding vision was a creative space in which experimentation and taking risks were not cautiously avoided, but rather enthusiastically embraced. We’ve all worked in big studios, and while we respect the advantages of plenty of resources, we wanted to stay small and agile so we could make our own games.
You may be thinking, ‘So why?’ because we believe that PlayStation Studios’ leadership respects our vision of how we can best work and succeed, and they aren’t afraid to take risks. On top of all this, the ability to potentially take advantage of PlayStation’s fabulous IP catalog and the fact that we’ll be taking advantage of the kind of support that only they can provide… The more difficult question to answer will be “why not?”
