A surprise news came from Outriders producer People Can Fly. The company announced that it has received a request from Take Two, the publisher of the games they have been developing for 2 years, codenamed Project Dagger, to “terminate the development and publishing contract with the company by mutual agreement”. The company will retain the rights to Project Dagger after its departure from Take Two.
Outriders producer parted ways with Take Two
People Can Fly has the right to find another publisher for the game after this stage or to publish the game themselves. However, the firm will have to reimburse Take Two for the development support they provided for 2 years. Little is known about Project Dagger, which has been developed in the New York studio for 2 years now, one of the few things that is known that the game will be in the action-adventure genre.
People Can Fly president Sebastian Wojciechowski said in a statement that he wants to work with Take Two again in the future and that he has no concerns about releasing Project Dagger. Wojciechowski also stated that they plan to switch the game from Unreal Engine 4 to 5.
People Can Fly is also developing games with Square Enix under the code name Project Germini, while plans to self-publish the games codenamed Projects Bifrost and Victoria. The aim of the company is to be able to publish games every year. Outriders Wordslayer came out earlier this summer.
