Ubisoft announced that the Hungry Shark series has reached one billion downloads worldwide on mobile platforms, making it Ubisoft’s most downloaded mobile game.
Developed by Ubisoft Future Games of London since the UK studio’s inception in 2009, the game follows sharks in a feeding frenzy in the world’s oceans. The first Hungry Shark was released on mobile platforms in 2010 with a team of just seven people.
With the transition to a free model that significantly increased its player base, Hungry Shark Evolution, now in its tenth year, has only been downloaded more than 630,000 times. Ubisoft acquired the studio in 2013, followed by the highly successful Hungry Shark World in 2016.
Ian Harper, Managing Director of Ubisoft Future Games of London, said: “We are really proud to have reached this incredible milestone and I would like to thank the relevant teams for their hard work as we look forward to some exciting announcements in early 2023.”
