Matt Goldman has been at BioWare for 23 years. He was most recently creative director of Dragon Age 4. In a statement, it was announced that he was leaving this position and BioWare.
BioWare President Gary McKay’s email to company employees on the subject reads:
“I share this email to inform you that Matt Goldman has left BioWare. We mutually agreed with him, and today is his last day at the company. We are aware that Matt’s departure could have an impact on you and on the development of the game. We assure you that we have not given up on our goal of creating a high-end Dragon Age game and will not produce a game that does not meet BioWare’s standards. The EA management level and we are fully confident in studio management and our staff working on this game to advance our vision.”
There is no explanation as to why Goldman left his post and the studio. It has not yet been announced who was replaced.
The first question that can be conceivable after such a departure, of course, is how much the process of developing the game will be affected. McKay says they’ll have no problem with that. We’ll see if that happens in the coming period.
