Earlier this year, developer Iron Gate released a rather ambitious roadmap for Valheim that included several major updates and a series of smaller improvements. But as the months passed, it became increasingly unlikely that Iron Gate would achieve all these goals. The Iron Gate team confirmed that it has to rearrange the roadmap for 2021.
Iron Gate said in an update post on Steam: “As we’re sure many of you suspect, we won’t be able to provide four different updates this year. Instead, we now plan to release Hearth and Home in the third quarter of 2021. We are temporarily removing the roadmap when making some changes to this regard. We are sorry that the Valheim update took so long.”
Iron Gatea went on to explain that it was not prepared for “such a large influx of players”, and the popularity of the game led to a focus on many mistakes that required urgent fixes. He added: “Our priority was to make the existing experience as stable as possible, and this meant that new content remained in the background. To be clear, we spent all our resources on these mistakes until May.”
